NO TO PLASTIC –AN AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

The over usage of plastic by our generation is heading us towards disastrous results. Nowadays all of us feel proud of using plastic bags and carry bags forgetting that they are not a part of our great Indian culture. Our forefathers used to carry homemade bags or baskets while going out for shopping. To revive that glorious ancient culture, the students of English department of Dev Samaj college for women started an awareness drive on 8th January 2020 to make people understand that they should use homemade bags. Around 50 students of the department distributed more than 200 cloth bags to various people and also made them aware that these bags are the best choice as they won't be responsible for increasing pollution. This whole exercise was done in collaboration with Municipal Corporation Ferozepur City. The shopkeepers ,vendors and the common people applauded this effort of our girls a lot.

AWARENESS DRIVE TO USE INDIAN PRODUCTS

To make our people and especially the children and the youngsters aware of the harmful results of Chinese Dora, The Department of English ,Dev Samaj college for women Ferozepur in collaboration with government high school dulchi ke started an awareness drive on 23rd January 2020. These are really hard times. The present generation has forgotten the message of father of our nation, Mahatma Gandhi, who had inspired the Indians to go for everything that is Swadeshi. Now -a -days Chinese products have become the first choice of majority of the Indians. Earlier our festivals used to spread a feeling of happiness in the air. One of the purposes of celebrating those festivals during different months of the year was to make arrangement for the bread and butter of those who were involved in cottage and small scale industries. But now the Chinese products have taken us away from the goods for which our Indian artisans were known the world over. When we talk of basant panchami, we feel goosebumps when we realise that every year during this kite festival ,Chinese Dor proves fatal for so many precious human lives. At the same time so many innocent birds are killed because of this killer dor.. This awareness drive got the support from various agencies.

                          BEST OUT OF WASTE COMPETITION

Dev Samaj College for Women ,Ferozepur is known in the length and breadth of the country as an institution which excels not only in the academic field but always tries to channelise the abundant energies of the students in the right direction. The students are the wealth of any nation. Schools and colleges are the platforms that prepare the students to become the responsible citizens of the country in the coming times. The identification of a responsible citizen can be made if he or she does not waste the resources that are available to him or her. To impart such values to the students, the department of English organised competition to utilise the waste products into something of aesthetic or practical value on 28th January, 2020 under the guidance of the Mrs Sapna Asst. Prof. in English.
This competition proved the fact that the students have really great talent in them. The only thing that is required is to give them some platform or opportunity to prove their unparalleled imagination quality.

A RALLY ON BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO

On 5th February 2020 English department of the college organised a rally on beti bachao beti padhao in which around 40 students participated and marched in different areas of the city to make people aware of the changing times in which girls should be given an equal status along with the boys.
This is the time when more and more daughters are breaking the old shackles and making their parents ,society and nation feel proud of them. But it is a matter of shame that despite the achievements of our girls in every field of life ,there are the people who indulge in heinous activities of female foeticide . And if somehow these girls are given a chance to be born they are kept away from the light of knowledge. They are not given an opportunity to go to schools or colleges. These are the reasons that our government has to chalk out special programs on Beti bachao beti padhao. Dev Samaj college for women always comes forward to voice its concern regarding the prevalent evils in the society.

These days the world is witnessing as to how China is suffering from a nano creature called Corona virus because of its bad eating habits. Nature tolerates only upto a certain level.
